 [Pharmacological effects] Pharmacodynamics Colistin is a kind of peptide, which is a kind of alkaline cationic surfactant. By interacting with phospholipids in the bacterial cell membrane, it penetrates into the bacterial cell membrane and destroys its structure, thereby causing changes in membrane permeability, leading to bacterial death and bactericidal effect. This product has a strong antibacterial effect on aerobic bacteria, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella, Shigella and other Gram-negative bacteria. Gram positive bacteria are usually not sensitive. There is complete cross-resistance to polymyxin B, but no cross-resistance to other antimicrobial agents.

Pharmacokinetics There is little absorption with oral administration but rapid absorption with non-GI administration. Drugs that enter the body can be rapidly distributed into the heart, lung, liver, kidney and skeletal muscle, but not easily into the brain and spinal cord, thoracic cavity, joint cavity and infection foci. It is excreted mainly through the kidney.

[Drug interaction] (1) It has synergistic effect with bacitracin zinc 1:5.

(2) Neuromuscular blocking agents such as muscle relaxants and aminoglycosides may cause muscle weakness and apnea.

(3) It has synergistic effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa with chelating agents (EDTA) and cationic detergent, and is often used in combination for the treatment of local infections.

(4) Nephrotoxicity may be enhanced when combined with drugs that may damage renal function.

【 Action and use 】 Peptide antibiotics. It is mainly used for the treatment of intestinal infections caused by sensitive Gram-negative bacteria in cattle, pigs and chickens.

[Usage and dosage] Based on this product. Mixed feeding: each 1000kg feed, 0.75 ~ 1kg for cattle, pigs and chickens. Use for 3 to 5 days.

[Adverse reactions] Colistin is well tolerated by animals when administered orally or locally. Systemic application of colistin can cause nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity and neuromuscular blocking effects, and colistin is less toxic than polymyxin B.

[Precautions] (1) Laying hens are forbidden during the laying period.

(2) Excessive use may cause renal function damage.

(3) It is not suitable for the treatment of systemic infectious diseases because of its minimal absorption.
